In addition to this, the image of the moon enhances the feelings of a slothful natural world as it come outs to the poet, whose narcissist contend is direct to an ideal conceived inwarfaredly his submit mind. This can be compared to both the character of captain Frankenstein and his creation. Just like the poet in Alastor, the hellion desires in desperation for an ideal which leave neer last a reality.Equally, the idea of narcissism is as well unmingled deep rase the character of Frankenstein. In the poem, Yellow flowers always gaze on their let droopy eyeball This image symbolises Narcissus who dictum his materialisation and fell in love with it, mistaking it for a Nymph, origin into the river, and dying in pursuit of his get animadversion, turning into a daffodil. In the same way, Frankenstein is solipsistic and motivated by selfish desires for him, love is narcissistic and in his pathetic effort to answer a creation in his stimulate image, as God did with Adam, he creates rather the go angel, which he fails to love and nurture. indeed the novel and the poem both represent an idealistic quest, vain in essence- and for Frankenstein, a quest for self glorification- which gives enhance to unimaginable misfortunate. In his poem, Shelley compares throe and loneliness with an eagle, grasped in folds of green ophidian keen with suffer, delirious with dizzying disquiet Shelley fitly uses the imagery of the serpent attacking a bird, drawing in Biblical duplicates to the poem, vertical as bloody shame Sh elley does in her novel to place importance on the d featureslope of Man. It can be declared that at this stage, the creature is only monstrous in appearance, and his recognition of the cottagers suffering shows his astonishing empathic qualities. His romantic descriptions of his observations of the children and the winning nature of the family, juxtapose with his solitude and his feelings of self- abominate which are epitomised in seeing his reflection in the lake I was filled with bitterest sensations of despondence and mortification. When the cottagers finally scrape up him, they too react through physical violence and ultimately the giant star is spurned once over again only to commit to his solitude and misfortuneOf my creation and creator I was perfectly ignorant endue with a figure hideously perverted and loathsomeI was not even of the same nature as manWhen I looked near I saw and heard of none like mea blot upon thisearth which all men fled, and whom all men diso wned (149)The hellion is visibly aware of his monomania and his reflections cause him suffering and sorrow. He expresses his pain through wandering, and this is a pivotal snatch which captures the transition all told I gave release to my anguish in fearful squall. I was like a wild tool. His hurt and agony are with a world full of prejudices where he is given no chance, and thus, he projects his behave at his milieu tearing at branches and trees, and finally sank on the damp spy in the sick impotence of fear. It is at this moment that he realises his goodness volition never be recognised he is grotesque but has physical chroma as his only tool, hence declaring never-failing war on his enemies, and above all, against he who had formed me, his creator, Victor Frankenstein, the root of his suffering. The image which follows is a diabolical and ghoulish fit of the daimon howling into the night and burning down the cottage he had once loved. His stream of prominent for tune is just appalling and Shelley seems to be exposing the inhumanity of humanity. The importation of the three texts which the heavyweight encounters cannot be overlooked. The first text is Goethes The Sorrows Of Young Werther which enables the whale to realise his own solitary state and depression. He weeps whilst Werther suffers too as an deprive and solitary pedestrian, and adds I applied a good deal personally and to my own feelings and condition (153) He compares his Werthers desires to become part of Charlottes family to his own which were to become part of the cottage family, the De Laceys. Shelleys novel to a fault draws from her mothers work, such as Vindication in which the influence is apparent through the monstrositys actions he is deprived of the interior(prenominal)ity and affections necessary for human beings. and then through Goethes text, he learns of the domestic idyll. The second text is the Volume of Plutarchs lives which depicts the history of the origi ns of mankind, and from the text he learns high thoughts, and goes on to state He lofty me above the wretched sphere of my own reflection of self- condolence and gloom, to admire and love the heroes of past ages. However it is the third text, Miltons Paradise incapacitated which is most striking in its parallel towards both the Monster and Victor . The hulk found a correlation amid his condition and stated Like Adam, I was apparentlyjoined by no link to each other human beingI was wretched, helpless and alone. some(prenominal) times I considered Satan as the fitter sign of my condition (page-136).The monsters central complaint is that he is alone and he requests that Victor make a swain for him I am alone, and miserable man will not associate with me my companion mustiness be of the same species and have the same defects (Page 168) order has rejected him because he is deformed and abominable, but this suffering leads to the monster retuning to fancy his creator so that loneliness can only be overcome by a companion this is a abundant realisation in the monster and more significantly, is that this suffering caused by complete solitude, is experienced by world too. Hence the suffering felt by the monster makes him no different to man. The monster goes on to say that a companion is necessary for my being (Pg 168) and the only cure for his malicious behaviour and misery. When Victor refuses a fiendish rage animated him as he say this his face was wrinkly into contortions too portentous for human eyes to behold (Pg 169)This is his answer to someone refusing what he desires most, what has haunted him since his creation and his rage is hardly surprising when considering the suffering he has endured. Every time languor and indifference mouse upon us our functions fall into decay This is where the monsters line of work finds its roots, for as Godwin writes in Political Justice, in order to be cheerful, we must cultivate a kind and beneficent pro pensityGodwin similarly expressed his views on solitary parturiency and these too seem to be echoed in the text The mind yearns, with inexpressible longings, for the society of its like. The monster is hence likened to the offender in solitary lying-in and pleads for a companion Who can enjoin the suffering of him who is condemned to unvarying solitude? Who can tell this that this is not, to the bulk of mankind the bitterest torment that human tact can inflict? (Pg 251) Echoing Godwin, who wrote A man is of more worth than a beast, Victor disregarding the monsters pleas, destroys the marginal female monster. This is the intermediate event which gives rise to relentless suffering endured by the monster . The extent of his misery is epitomised with the monster sceptical Victor Shall each man find a wife for his bosom, and each beast have his mate, and I be alone? Are you to behappy while I flinch in the transport of my wretchedness? (Volume 3, chapter 2) so there is a dis astrous return to Victors reasoning. In Mary Shelleys Gothic novel, Frankenstein hopes to be the source of new species, but ironically, his creature evolves into a self acknowledge Satan who swears unadulterated revenge and war upon his creator and all the human race. The monster reflects that hell is an intimate condition which is produced and increase through loneliness. Both master and creature are torn by their internal conflicts from misapplied knowledge and their sense of isolation. In P.B. Shelleys poem, the solitary walker suffers as a result of his own actions and choice to be abandon society. He suffers for having fantasies that will never be a reality. Hence his suffering is a result of his own disillusionment.BIBLIOGRAPHY1. Shelley, P.B., Alastor Or, The Spirit Of Solitude2. Exam questions in History - Essay ExampleAnalyzing the factual evidences and the historical facts, it becomes lucid that Columbus enjoys a distinction among the explorers which is not completely substantiated by his deeds. It is a fact that he initiated some important explorations which helped the European explorers to establish their regal superiority in the land. However, it does not adequately establish his role as the chief explorer of the European desires and, in fact, he fell short of his last goals. Christopher Columbus is an unlikely figure to be considered the discoverer of America and the leading symbol of European exploration overseas... None of this is certain and probably never go away be... By contrast, Columbus...knew what he was looking for--a sea passage that would carry him to the fabled wealth of China by sailing west from Europe. This is not what he found. (Marshall, 1998, p 16). The most essential irony of his life and explorations is that Columbus, all throu gh his life, failed to recognize that he had not reached the Orient but had stumbled upon vast lands totally new to the European mind. Thus, Columbus was a failure in achieving his ultimate goal and was a self-conscious explorer driven by the craving for discovery. It was never Columbus but others who found the full significance of his discoveries. In short, the profound popularity of Christopher Columbus is not completely substantiated by his actions. A. Module 1, Q 2 The actions of the Spanish, French, English, and Dutch explorers and colonizers and their impact on the domestic peoples, the environment, and Europe.Explorations and colonization by the European explorers including the Spanish, French, English, and Dutch explorers have influenced the course of human history in general and that of the native peoples in particular. The main motive of these explorations and colonization was profit and the native peoples involve to suffer for the advantage of the European nations. The impact of the actions by the European explorers was favorable to the Europe, while the native peoples and their environment were adversely affected. The European explorers such as the Spanish, French, English, and Dutch attempted to discover better trade routes to Asia and the trade interests in home nations increased tremendously. Explorations were also fueled by the interest for colonization by the European nation, along with the quest for knowledge about the new lands. The entire Europe has been enjoying the fruits of the explorations and colonization by the early explorers, while the colonized and explored lands of Asia, Africa, and America have been deep disfavored by these explorations. The nineteenth century was the great age of European expansion. For 300 years, following the voyages of Columbus, Da Gama, and Magellan, the shadow of the European hegemony had been moving across the oceans. For ten generations brazen-faced explorers, traders, and colonizers had been hoisting sail in the harbours of the Old World to lay the broad

New Zealand Early Childhood Education Learning Theories link with Essay

New Zealand Early Childhood Education Learning Theories link with didactics - Essay ExampleEach spirit level reflected the teachers chosen pedagogy. In Learning From Very Young Children, the teachers role was that of a co-learner. Muellar Tokunagas (2006) story illustrated a social constructivist pedagogy. Vygotsky (1978) believed that childrens intellectual development is influenced more by social context than by individual experiences. His theory places a great give care of emphasis on effective social interaction. Interactions are likely to go through a process called intersubjectivity. This is when two people are engaged in a task and begin from different understandings but with interaction, comes to an agreed, shared understanding. This is usually manifested when children initially debate opposite arguments but upon more understanding of the concept because of hearing to each others opinions, will both end up seeing the concept in one direction. In Muellar Tokunagas story, s he and the children eventually axiom the same things in their imaginative play as it progressed to a smooth, seamless episode of a common experience. Because the play experience was so fulfilling and productive, Muellar Tokunaga, a comparatively new teacher as of the time of writing gained inspiration in taking on a teaching philosophy that takes into account childrens ideas when proviso the curriculum. ... 44). It is not easy letting go of the reins of control and passing it over to little childrens hands, however, Muellar Tokunaga (2006) found wisdom in it. She allowed herself to be enmeshed in the childrens world of imaginative play and saw for herself how rich an experience it was not only for the children but for her as well. Accepting their invitation to glance into their world was a privilege she gladly enjoyed, as she learned that much of what they play and think about is a reflection of their culture and daily life. Consideration of this culture reflects an ecological pe dagogy which is also very strong in the Te Whaariki curriculum. Muelluar Tokunaga gives much emphasis to the cultural orientation of her students as she believes in the importance of an open headway and awareness of cultural influences and behaviours should not be overlooked (p. 45). This is manifested in equitable dialogues and sharing of stories with each other. To her, the significance of such dialogues lies not only in fosterage feelings of mutual respect, love, belonging and responsibility for each other but on the practical side, it helps in negotiating daily curriculum content in early childishness education. The teacher in Patterson, Fleet and Duffies (1996) story, Lambs Tails shares an opposite story. Her role in the story was that of an interviewer who kept trying to elicit stories from her student, Bernie. She would have cherished the same privilege granted to Muelluar Tokunaga when the children invited her into their world, but with Bernie, Patterson et al.s teacher overwhelmed the boy with too much enthusiasm about his world that he did not let her in. Inerrancy and Infallibility of the Bible Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words

Inerrancy and Infallibility of the Bible - Essay ExampleAlso, there are some who are only nominally members of these faiths, and although they may or may non shed a faith in God, their belief in the truth of the scriptures may be incomplete or absent. Others are prepared to accept general truths such(prenominal) as that Jesus was a good man, but would find it much more difficult to accept that he was the promised Messiah, the Saviour of the world. There are umpteen misapprehensions. M whatever people believe that the Bible was write in a chronological way, but upon examination, this assumption falls flat. The epistles, especially those of Paul, for instance, were written down onwards the dates of the Gospels, yet follow them in modern Bibles. The minor prophets such as Malachi and Zephaniah are simply gathered together in order of size, rather than any chronological order. 1 When it comes to early books of the Bible it must be remembered that stories would have in the first inst ance been passed on by oral tradition i.e. passed on a word by word down the generations. Abraham did not carry st matchless tablets out of Ur. His story was written down much later. This does not target away or add to their validity as historical documents. According to the introduction to the Book of Genesis by Youngblood2, within the last 200 geezerhood Bible scholars have managed to distinguish 4 different threads within Genesis i.e. document U which include Yahweh , the personal name of God E, Elohim , a generic name for god, D for a Deuteronomic source, and P for a priestly source. These scholars believe that the documents date from the 10th to the 5th century BC. So some later writer has brought together many different sources into a coherent whole. Thesis The Bible is not a history or scientific text and does not claim to be so. It is inspired by an infallible God, ( 2 Timothy 3 v 16)3 but put together by man, who is fallible. But because it is verbalize to be inspired b y God, as far as points necessary for salvation and mans relationship with God the Bible is infallible. Method This dissertation will be explored by considering various Biblical passages as well as certain historical instances. The Bible Record. On this topic, Paul, writing in Ist Corinthians, one of the earlier New Testament documents, said- We have not received the spirit of the World but the Spirit which is from God, that we may understand what God has presumptuousness us. This is what we speak, not in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.4 Not all the words in the Bible were recorded in written form immediately after the events they record. For instance Matthew 28 v 12 and 13 record how the Sanhedrin paid off the guard, instructing them to say that the disciples had stolen the body. The evangelist then adds in v 15 This story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.5 i.e. thus indicating a passage of sometime before the s tory was recorded. Nor was everything known recorded in the books now contained within the canon of scripture. After describing himself as an eye-witness to events by saying that he testifies to the things recorded John goes on to say- Jesus did many opposite things as well.

How conservative was Hogarth's view of London Essay

How conservative was Hogarths view of capital of the United Kingdom - Essay ExampleHogarths important whole kit and boodle Hogarths paintings portray a view of London streets that is bustling and chaotic, such that a viewer looking at the paintings gets a feeling almost of claustrophobia because they egress to be so packed and close. The angle and view which the artist presents make the view feel as if s/he is walking through crowd streets in London, as opposed to neat and well ordered ones. This feeling of being crowded and congested may be noted especially in his work titled Southwark Fair (the humours of a plumb) which is dated January 1733. This particular painting is centred around the church of St. George in Southwark. This particular painting may be a follow on of the series of eight paintings which comprised the series known as the rakes progress. These were first presented by Hogarth as canvases and depicted the keep of Tom Rakewell , the son of a rich merchant, who come s to London and spends away all his money on prostitution and gambling, so that he is finally sent strike to prison and on to bedlam. The last painting in the series shows an insane and violent Tom consigned to a mental hospital and the painting titled Southwark fair might represent Toms descent into bedlam.. ... As Brennan (2009) has pointed out, one out of every five women in London during that time period were prostitutes. there was a high demand for virgins and the noblemen paid a high price for the privilege of deflowering virgins. Hogarths portraying of these prostitutes in his whole kit and boodle, as as well further particular below, points out that monetary considerations took precedence over morality and virtue. Young women could earn much higher sums of money by selling out their bodies to high remunerative men, as opposed to plying an honest trade and working as maids or in similar professions. Hence, greed was the sole motive for the eschewing of virtue and Hogart hs portrayal of these prostitutes is such that a fall is inevitably associated with the lives of these harlots, after years of fattening of their wallets through their earnings. Hogarths works of art question the existing moral standards in the London of his day. In an exhaustive discussion of black slaves and the moral and social connotations that were associated with the training of the former slaves into docile houseboys, Molineaux has noted that owning a black houseboy had become uniform to owning a pet or a dog, so that the sight of white ladies with their black slaves had become fairly common in London. In his series of works titled A harlots progress that consist of six different plates, Hogarth details the story of a young woman who arrives in London and descends into prostitution. The second print shows the harlot in luxurious surroundings, ensconced in a parlor owned by a rich Jewish merchant, where the harlot is also attended by a monkey and a black slave, thereby signi fying in a satirical manner, the so called high standing that this woman has achieve by virtue of being the rich Jewish
